Examples of patterns using different shapes

Activity

(i) Take two sets of shapes each namely square and triangle made of colour paper.

(ii) Divide the class into two groups.

(iii) Provide one set of shapes to each group.

(iv) Now the teacher tells the number of shapes to be used to create patterns. (for example, 1 square, 1 triangle)

(v) Then each of the groups create different patterns on the floor using 1 square and 1 triangle.

(vi) Encourage the groups to create more number of patterns.

(vii) Continue the activity with different number of shapes.

(viii) Various patterns created using the triangle and square shapes are shown below.
