Exercise 1.1d (sides and perimeter of a quadrilateral)

Find the perimeter of the following figures : square, rectangle, triangle, parallelogram, trapezoid
Shapes with dimensions: square, rectangle, triangle, parallelogram, trapezoid
Solutions for Figures
1) Perimeter = Sum of all sides = \(5 + 3 + 6 + 8 = 22 \text{ cm}\) Perimeter = 22 cm
2) Perimeter = Sum of all sides = \(7 + 2 + 5 + 10 = 24 \text{ cm}\) Perimeter = 24 cm
3) Perimeter = Sum of all sides = \(4 + 7 + 4 + 7 = 22 \text{ cm}\) Perimeter = 22 cm
4) Perimeter = Sum of all sides = \(11 + 11 + 11 + 11 = 44 \text{ cm}\) Perimeter = 44 cm
5) Perimeter = Sum of all sides = \(5 + 5 + 10 + 10 = 30 \text{ cm}\) Perimeter = 30cm
Answer the following Questions

1. A side of a square−shaped sandbox in Gandhi Park measures 30 cm. Determine the perimeter of the sandbox.

Side of a square shaped sand box = 30cm
Perimeter = Sum of all sides
\( = 30 + 30 + 30 + 30 = 120 \text{ cm}\)
Perimeter of the sand box = 120 cm

2. Find the perimeter of a rectangle, whose sides are 12 cm and 8 cm.

Side of a Rectangle = 12cm and 8cm
Perimeter = Sum of all sides
\( = 12 + 12 + 8 + 8 = 40 \text{ cm}\)
Perimeter of the Rectangle = 40 cm

3. Find the perimeter of the triangle, whose sides are 13 cm, 5 cm and 14 cm.

Side of a Triangle = 13cm, 5cm and 14cm
Perimeter = Sum of all sides
\( = 13 + 5 + 14 = 32 \text{ cm}\)
Perimeter of the Triangle= 32 cm

4. The adjacent sides of a parallelogram are 6 cm and 7 cm. What is the perimeter of the parallelogram?

Side of a Parallelogram = 6cm and 7cm
Perimeter = Sum of all sides
\( = 6 + 6 + 7 + 7 = 26 \text{ cm}\)
Perimeter of the Parallelogram = 26 cm

5. The sides of a trapezoid measures 8 cm, 7 cm, 4 cm and 5 cm respectively. What is the perimeter of the trapezoid?

Side of a Trapezoid = 8cm, 7cm, 4cm and 5cm
Perimeter = Sum of all sides
\( = 8 + 7 + 4 + 5 = 24 \text{ cm}\)
Perimeter of the Trapezoid = 24 cm
