a. Write down your school time table for the following:

(i) Morning school break time to morning school ending time. 11.30 a.m to 12.45 p.m

(ii) Morning school working time. 3 hrs 15 mts

(iii) Afternoon school working time. 2hrs 45mts

(iv) Afternoon Lunch break time. 12.45 p .m. to 1.30 p.m

b. Match the following:

Study the following pairs carefully and match the 12-hour clock time to the 24-hour clock time:

9:40 a.m. : 9:40 Hours

3:20 p.m. : 15:20 Hours

6:25 p.m. : 18:25 Hours

11:40 p.m. : 23:40 Hours

3. Addition

(i) 4 hours 30 minutes + 2 hours 50 minutes = 7 hours 20 minutes

(ii) 4 hours 50 minutes + 2 hours 30 minutes = 7 hours 20 minutes

(iii) 3 hours 45 minutes + 1 hours 35 minutes = 5 hours 20minutes

(iv) 1 hours 50 minutes + 3 hours 45 minutes = 5 hours 35 minutes

(v) 2 hours 25 minutes + 4 hours 50 minutes = 7 hours 15 minutes

4. Subtract

(i) 5 hours 10 minutes – 2 hours 35 minutes = ____________ 2 hours 35 minutes

(ii) 4 hours 20 minutes – 2 hours 40 minutes = ____________ 1 hours 40 minutes

(iii) 4 hours 25 minutes – 1 hours 20 minutes = ____________ 3 hours 05 minutes

4. Answer the following:

(i) An office works from morning 10 o’clock to afternoon 6 o’clock. What is the working hours of the office in a day?
10 o'clock to noon = 2 hrs
Noon to 6 o'clock = 6 hrs
Total working hours of the office in a day = [6 hrs] + [2 hrs] = 8 hrs

(ii) A school works from 9 a.m. to 4.10 p.m. What is the working hours of the school?
4.10 pm = 16.10 hrs (4.10+12)
9 am = 9 hrs (−) The working hours of the school = 7.10 hrs

(iii) A circus starts at 2:15 p.m. and end after 2:30 hours. At what time the circus ends?
Starting time = 2.15 p.m +
Duration of circus = 2.30 hrs
The circus ends at = [2.15 p.m ] + [2.30 hrs] = 4.45 p.m

(iv) A bank works from morning 9:30 to evening 4:30. What is the working hours of the bank?
Bank closing time evening 4.30 = 16.30 hrs (−)
The starting of the bank = 9.30 hrs The working hours of the bank = 7.00 hrs

(v) A man comes to his village from abroad. He travels 2 hours 15 minutes in Aeroplane and 4 hours 40 minutes in Car. What is his total time of travel?
Travel in aeroplane = 2 hrs 15 minutes (+)
Travel in car = 4 hrs 40 minutes
Total time of travel = 6 hrs 55 minutes

(vi) A painter paints a house for 3 hours 15 minutes in the morning, and 2 hours 50 minutes in the evening. What is his total time of work?
Work in the morning = 3 hrs 15 minutes ( + )
Work in the evening = 2 hrs 50 minutes
= 5 hrs 65 minutes
Total time of work = 6 hrs 05 minutes
