Example 1

(i) 12 km 225m × 6

12 km 225 m × 6 = 73 km 350 m 225 × 6 = 1350m = 1km 350m

(ii) 75m 15cm × 5

75m 15cm × 5 = 375m 75 cm

Try this

(a) 7m 20cm × 6 = 43 m 20 cm

(b) 15m 75cm × 5 = 78 m 75 cm

(d) 35km 500m × 5 = 177 km 500 m

Example 2

The length of a ribbon is 4 m 25 cm. Find the total length of three ribbons.

Solution:

(i) Length of one ribbon = 4 m 25 cm
(ii) Length of three ribbons = 4 m 25 cm × 3
(iii) = 12 m 75 cm

Length of three ribbons = 12 m 75 cm
